Tessellations

Tessellations

We have just completed our Tessellation project.  Tessellations were made famous by the artist M.C. Escher.  My 5th grade students learned about translation, rotation &  reflection.  A tessellation is a design with no overlapping or gaps-it fits together like a puzzle. The process is rather simple but it is very difficult to get an exact image without many, many tries!  Most of the students created an image and then examined it to find a shape or image within it.  I think they did an awesome job!
